Dannemann is a well-known name, especially when it comes to cigarillos. But that’s only part of the story.
Dannemann: A Fusion of Tradition and Modernity
The company’s roots trace back to Geraldo Dannemann. The Bremen native traveled to Brazil as a young man. Having already been exposed to cigars in his homeland, he wanted to dedicate himself to the craft. Whether it was his passion for tobacco or the North German weather that drew him to the New World remains speculative. He settled in the Mata Fina region, renowned for its excellent tobacco.
Control from Start to Finish
He quickly built strong relationships with local farmers and began growing tobacco on his own land. This philosophy of a closed production chain for quality assurance is still upheld at Dannemann today under the guiding principle of “from seed to smoke.”

Geraldo Dannemann was highly respected in his new homeland and even became mayor. The former emigrant soon ranked among the most influential figures in Bahia.
Dannemann Today
After his death in 1921, the company faced turbulent times. Trade restrictions during World War II made business difficult, but the company managed to reestablish itself successfully.
Today, Dannemann is headquartered in Lübbecke, East Westphalia. While no longer family-owned, the company remains true to its values. Transparency and responsibility towards the environment and the workers in the growing regions are still fundamental principles.
Well-Known Classics: Dannemann Cigarillos
The Dannemann Cigarillos are available in Sumatra and Brazil varieties. Those looking for budget-friendly cigarillos will find attractive options in the 50-piece boxes of the Schwering & Hasse series.
Treffurt Collection
The Treffurt Collection combines cigarillos with German history. The brands Diplomat, Gold, and Sprachlos originate from the former GDR and were acquired by Dannemann after reunification to preserve their East German identity.
Dannemann Cigars – Traditional Quality
In addition to cigarillos, Dannemann also offers cigars. The Dannemann Cigars include, among others, the Collofino in a Corona format, promising a refined smoking experience.

The premium segment is represented by the Cigarren 100% Tobacco line, which stands out for its refined aromas and exceptional quality.
