Alec Bradley Cigars: From Vision to Global Brand
Alan Rubin did not just chase a dream; he developed a clear plan to make it a reality when he decided to create his own cigar brand, which would later become known as Alec Bradley.
The 1990s posed significant challenges for cigar manufacturers, and Rubin faced immense difficulties in sustaining his Alec Bradley Cigar Company. He demonstrated resilience and refused to give up, despite the shrinking market and financial losses that hit him hard.

In 2000, Rubin endured significant losses of over $60,000 with the release of the unprofitable cigar line “Bogey’s Stogies.” The timing was far from ideal, as the cigar boom was fading and competition was fierce. The future of Alec Bradley seemed uncertain.
From Turning Point to Cigar Icon
The breakthrough came in late 2000 when Rubin met experienced cigar expert Ralph Montero. Both quickly realized that a partnership would combine their strengths. Montero brought not only his expertise but also valuable connections, including to renowned tobacco grower Henke Kelner from the Dominican Republic. Together, they put Alec Bradley back on the path to success.
Tradition Meets Innovation: Alec Bradley Tempus and Beyond
The introduction of the Alec Bradley Tempus in 2007 marked a new era for the brand. This bold and complex cigar represented a daring shift from their previously milder blends. The major breakthrough came in 2011 when the Alec Bradley Prensado Churchill was crowned “Cigar of the Year.” Rubin had firmly established his place in the global market, proving with passion and determination that quality and innovation drive success.
Success in Numbers: Three Million Cigars Annually
Today, Alec Bradley produces two to three million cigars annually and ranks among the leading mid-sized manufacturers worldwide. The name Alec Bradley is synonymous with premium cigars that impress not only with their quality but also with their variety.
Rubin and his young, dynamic team adapt quickly to market trends. For instance, they responded to the growing demand for large-format cigars with innovative options like the Texas Lancero, known for its exceptionally long smoking time.
A Wide Range of Premium Cigars
From the award-winning Prensado line to the distinctive American Sun Grown, Alec Bradley offers a portfolio that caters to every taste. The Black Market series remains popular and was successfully expanded with the Black Market Esteli.

For aficionados of exclusive cigars, Alec Bradley offers the limited-edition Fine & Rare. Other lines, such as Gatekeeper, Kintsugi, and Project 40, reflect the brand’s innovation and passion.
More Than Cigars: Accessories and Merchandising
For true connoisseurs, Alec Bradley also offers stylish accessories like ashtrays and lighters. Since the brand was sold to STG in 2023 for €70 million, the portfolio has been streamlined, but the quality and exclusivity remain unchanged.
