In 1866, a boy was born in the northwestern Spanish region of Asturias whose name still holds a special place in the cigar world: Alejandro Lopez. At just twenty years old, he took the bold step of crossing the North Atlantic and settling in Panama. In the fertile region of Chiriquí, he discovered his passion for tobacco cultivation. His curiosity and dedication allowed him to delve deeply into the secrets of this craft and acquire the necessary expertise.
In 1910, at the age of 44, he moved to the Dominican Republic. There, in the region around Santiago de los Caballeros, he founded his first cigar factory in the 1920s. By his mid-fifties, Alejandro Lopez had realized his dream and ran his factory until his death in 1948 at the age of 82. Today, his vision and legacy live on in the cigars that bear his name, cherished by aficionados worldwide.
