Born in 1926 in Lebanon and rooted in Armenia, Avo Uvezian inherited a love for music from his parents. His father was a conductor, and his mother a singer—a background that paved the way for his career as a pianist and composer. At a young age, he excelled at the piano, performing with a jazz trio in the Middle East as a teenager. These early experiences shaped his life and laid the foundation for an extraordinary career.
After spending time in Tehran, where he even performed for the Shah, and later moving to the United States, Avo began studying music before serving as a pianist in officer casinos during the Korean War. These experiences brought him back to the U.S., where he dedicated himself to his passions for music and refined enjoyment.

After marrying and moving to Puerto Rico, Avo opened a piano bar that soon became a haven for connoisseurs. It was there that the idea to create premium cigars took root. By a stroke of luck, he met Hendrik Kelner, a master blender from the Dominican Republic. This partnership led to the creation of the first AVO cigars, which were immediately successful due to their quality and harmony. Today, they are part of the prestigious Oettinger Davidoff Group portfolio.
