Cain Cigars – Intense Smoking Pleasure with Ligero Excellence

Straight Ligero – this term immediately evokes associations with powerful cigars rooted in Nicaragua. Over the years, these robust cigars have gained great popularity in Germany thanks to the efforts of the importer Wolfertz GmbH. But how did a producer stand out with a vision to use only selected tobaccos for exceptionally intense and full-bodied blends?

Cain, along with the NUB brand, is part of the project label Studio Tobac. Established in 2007 under the direction of the renowned Oliva Company, Studio Tobac combines the expertise of Oliva Company employees known as "The Board," tasked with creating exclusive cigars for true connoisseurs. The exceptional Cain cigar blends are crafted by Gilberto Jr., whose goal is to balance the flavor of cigars with an especially high Ligero content and offer them in top-notch quality.

The Tobaccos Behind Cain Ligero

When the NUB cigars launched, they caused a stir with their distinctive 60-ring gauge. Cain, by contrast, made its mark with a high nicotine content and the extraordinary strength of its blends. Even before its official market debut in 2009, strong cigars with high Ligero content were considered an insider tip among seasoned enthusiasts.

Cain Daytona Cigars
The mildest creation from the OLIVA family: Cain Daytona

What makes Cain cigars truly unique is the deliberate combination of three different Ligero tobaccos from Nicaragua. The term “Straight Ligero” emphasizes the focus on robust tobaccos in the blends. Despite the high Ligero content, the cigars offer a harmonious smoking experience, provided they are stored in a humidor with increased humidity to fully develop their flavor.

The Ligero tobaccos from the regions of Esteli, Condega, and Jalapa are processed at the Tabacalera Oliva for the Serie F, Maduro, Sun Grown (known as Cain Habano in the USA), and Daytona lines. Ligero tobacco is derived from the upper leaves of the tobacco plant, which receive the most sunlight and nutrients. Tobaccos from Esteli are renowned for their strength, Condega for their complexity, and Jalapa for their refined character.

What Makes Cain Cigars Exceptional

With over 80% Ligero content in all series, Cain cigars are primarily aimed at seasoned aficionados. The Daytona, the latest addition to the series, offers a surprisingly mild yet aromatic smoking experience compared to its robust predecessors Sun Grown, Maduro, and Serie F. The Cain Sun Grown earned a 91-point rating from Cigar Snob, while the Daytona and Serie F were awarded 92 points each by renowned magazines like Cigar Journal and Cigar Aficionado. The Cain NUB line combines the best features of both brands.

For connoisseurs seeking alternatives, the high-quality cigars from Nicarao are an excellent option. Those who prefer Cuban cigars will find appealing choices among brands such as H. Upmann, Ramon Allones, Cuaba, or Vegas Robaina.
