Casdagli Cigars: Partners with Tradition in the Dominican Republic

Some may remember: Casdagli Cigars were previously known as Bespoke, meaning "custom-made." This term reflected the highest standards the brand set for its production. Due to trademark requirements, however, the name was changed, and the family name of the owner now graces the brand.

The Legacy of Casdagli

Jeremy Nicholas Casdagli proudly leads the brand. His family traces its roots to a Greek merchant dynasty whose history dates back to the 19th century in the Ottoman Empire.

Later, the Casdagli family became involved in the cotton trade with England in Alexandria, where Manchester was the center of the European textile industry. They also traded in luxury goods like Arabian horses, which contributed to the family’s income.

Casdagli Cigars: Custom Creations for Connoisseurs

After a period of Cuban cigars, production found a new home in the Dominican Republic. Here, the brand secured a collaboration with Hendrik Kelner Jr., whose father, Hendrik Kelner Sr., earned a legendary reputation as a master blender at Davidoff. In 2013, the first series, Traditional, was created at the Tabacalera KBF. The logo, the Colossus of Rhodes, symbolizes the brand’s proud origins.

Other series, such as the Club Mareva and Basilica, followed. The Basilica series, in particular, targets the oriental market and impresses with refreshing citrus notes. The Cabinet Selection, offered in 50-cigar cabinet boxes, was another series launched in the Dominican Republic before Jeremy Casdagli shifted his focus to Costa Rica.

From Alexandria to Costa Rica: The Journey of Casdagli Cigars

In Costa Rica, the Daughters of the Wind series was created in collaboration with the Tabacalera IGM, led by Olman Guzman. Originally designed for the U.S. market, these cigars have also gained many admirers locally. Another collaboration resulted in exclusive cigars from the Puriscal region near San José.
