Cesare Barontini: Pipes from Italy
Although we would love to provide you with a comprehensive insight into the history of a traditional Italian pipe manufacturer, only limited information is available about Cesare Barontini. Contact is exclusively managed through the German importer, Hauser in Augsburg. A direct email address or an official homepage for the manufacturer cannot be found. In Italian pipe-smoking forums, various speculations about the company’s future circulate, but none have been substantiated. Even in its home country, direct communication with end customers seems largely absent. Well-known online pipe encyclopedias also offer only sparse information.
Pipes Under the Name Cesare Barontini
It is well established that Cesare Barontini has produced thousands of pipes for renowned brands over the decades. Since 2011, the company has been manufacturing pipes for Stanwell. Vauen also had its pipes produced by Barontini for a time but ended the collaboration some years ago.

Pipes marketed under their own name now play a rather secondary role. Nevertheless, it can be said that they are of solid quality and appeal to lovers of classic designs.
The History of Barontini Pipes
The company’s history can be summarized based on an email from the German importer as follows:
- In 1890, Turildo Barontini opened a briar mill for the production of ebauchons for the pipe industry.
- In 1925, Bruno Barontini began manufacturing finished pipes.
- During World War II, production ceased for approximately seven years.
- In 1946, the factory was reopened by Bruno and Illico Barontini.
- Since 1955, the company has reinvested in the production of raw materials as well as pre-fabricated pipes.
As of now, production remains based in Livorno and is still managed by the Barontini family. Unfortunately, no further details are available.
