Chinchalero: British Charm Meets Nicaraguan Craftsmanship
John Atherton, a Brit with a refined sense for enjoyment and a good sense of humor, understood early on what matters when it comes to premium cigars. During his many years at General Cigars International, he acquired in-depth expertise in all things tobacco. In 2011, he brought his vision to life in Nicaragua by founding the Chinchalero brand.
Chinchalero Cigars with Tobacco from Nicaragua and Honduras
The Chinchalero line stands for carefully crafted cigars that make quality accessible. Selected tobaccos from Honduras and Nicaragua are used. One former standout was the now-discontinued Reserva de Oro series – recognizable by its red cigar band – known for its spicy and distinctive profile.
The versions with the light blue cigar band are milder in character, while maintaining their Nicaraguan roots with subtle spice and a smooth burn.
Creative Wrapper Art: Torcidos and Mezcla 40 by Chinchalero
Chinchalero offers a visual and flavorful highlight with its Torcidos line. These cigars combine two different wrappers – a light Connecticut and a dark Maduro – wrapped in a spiral pattern. The resulting color contrast is not only a visual signature, but also enhances the complex flavor profile of this medium-bodied cigar.
The Mezcla 40 – “mezcla” means blend in Spanish – reveals an exciting aroma profile with sweet notes, fine spice, and a hint of chili heat. Its bright appearance comes from a carefully processed Connecticut wrapper grown in Ecuador.
