Philipp Kugler, the founder of Cigarkings, initially had no connection to the world of cigars. As an aspiring communication designer, he developed the concept of a fictional cigar brand as part of a university project. However, what started as a creative idea quickly turned into a true passion for the art of cigar making, ultimately leading to the founding of Cigarkings.
Philipp Kugler: The Path to Becoming a Successful Cigar Manufacturer
What began as a theoretical project became a reality in 2016. However, the journey was challenging – numerous trade shows and visits to specialist retailers were necessary to establish the brand. The first major success came when Kugler sold 800 cigars from the now-legendary Schöne Robusto series in a Munich specialty store within a single day. This success motivated him to pursue his passion further and position Cigarkings as a premium brand in the cigar market.
Today, Cigarkings is an established brand that continues to attract attention with new collections. All cigars are handcrafted by experienced torcedores in a small, family-run factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. The exact production location remains a well-kept secret to maintain the brand's exclusivity.
Responsibility and Sustainability
Cigarkings places great importance on responsible production. While the tobacco comes from Nicaragua, the packaging is produced in Bavaria. Kugler consistently uses sustainable materials and exclusively sources wood for the cigar boxes from FSC-certified Bavarian forests, emphasizing his commitment to the careful use of natural resources.
Diverse Selection of Cigarkings Cigars
The Cigarkings product range offers a wide variety for connoisseurs. In addition to the aromatic Sun Grown cigars, the intense Maduro cigars are highly popular. There are also limited Editions and carefully curated Samplers. The combination of Nicaraguan H2000 tobacco and Ecuadorian wrappers, which provide a well-balanced smoking experience, is particularly noteworthy.
The finely tuned tobacco blends distinguish Cigarkings. The Sun Grown and Maduro series deliberately avoid Ligero tobacco to ensure a harmonious strength and a pleasant smoking experience.
The Art of the Entubado Rolling Technique
A special quality feature of Cigarkings cigars is the traditional Cuban Entubado rolling technique. Here, the filler tobacco is rolled into separate tubes, creating eight smoke channels. This technique ensures an even draw and slow, controlled burn, allowing the flavors to fully develop.
