“Two Woods” – that’s the German translation of the name “Dos Maderas”. The name also refers to the unique aging process that makes this rum so distinctive: its complex flavors are the result of a two-stage cask maturation in different types of wooden barrels.
Dos Maderas Rum: From the Caribbean to Andalusia
The journey of this rum begins in the Caribbean – more precisely, in Barbados or Guyana. There, it matures first under the tropical sun. Its second maturation phase takes place in the cellars of Williams & Humbert in Jerez de la Frontera, a traditional town in southern Spain.
The renowned Bodega Williams & Humbert, founded in the late 19th century by British entrepreneurs, has earned an international reputation – particularly for its outstanding brandies and sherries. Its portfolio now also includes gins and this exceptional rum.
Refinement in Sherry Casks: Dos Maderas Rum from Jerez
Dos Maderas Rum undergoes its final maturation in former sherry casks from the bodega – a process that lends it a particularly layered aroma and refined depth. A standout in the product line is the Dos Maderas Rum Luxus, a prime example of patient aging mastery.
The rum first underwent ten years of aging in the Caribbean, before being allowed to develop to perfection over a further five years in Jerez. The result: a rum of harmonious sweetness and depth, delighting with its smooth texture and refined flavor complexity.
