E.P. Carrillo: "The Godfather of Boutique Cigars"
The brand is led by Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, affectionately known as "Ernie," or simply EPC. And he is by no means just anyone in the industry, otherwise, he wouldn’t hold the honorable title of "Godfather of Boutique Cigars." Born in 1951 in Cuba, his passion for the brown gold was practically instilled in him from birth.
He was born in the renowned Pinar del Río growing region, where his family had been successfully cultivating tobacco since 1907. Ernesto has always remained true to his passion for cigars, even after leaving the island to pursue new paths in the United States.
From the Dominican Republic: EPC Cigars
There, he continued the La Gloria Cubana brand, which originally came from Cuba and whose non-Cuban variant was taken over by his father in the USA. The cigars were produced in the El Credito factory in Miami. In the late 1990s, Ernesto sold the business but remained committed to cigar production. After parting ways with La Gloria Cubana, he dedicated himself to new projects and founded the E.P. Carrillo brand.
He would hardly have earned the title of Godfather of Boutique Cigars if he had retired: instead, Ernesto continued to produce cigars at his Tabacalera La Alianza in the Dominican Republic and eventually established the label EPC Cigars Co. in 2009. His children are now also firmly integrated into the family business.
All EPC Cigars: Exceptional and Award-Winning
EPC more than lives up to its reputation as a manufacturer of boutique cigars. The brand stands for exquisite compositions that are characterized by sophistication and exclusivity. Experiments are welcome, such as the impressive ring gauges of the INCH, and the artfully designed cigar bands of La Historia reflect a love for detail. Its worthy successor is the Encore, made exclusively from Nicaraguan tobacco. A bit milder, the New Wave Connecticut also enjoys recognition among fans of stronger cigars.
Particularly diverse is the origin of the tobaccos at EPC. In addition to the Dominican Republic and the indispensable Nicaragua, they come from Mexico and the USA, where the wrapper for the Pledge comes from. The masterful combination of tobaccos from various origins is highly appreciated and is regularly celebrated by the specialized press. EPC cigars receive excellent ratings and have been awarded multiple times.
