Horacio: A Taste Experience from the Land of Volcanoes
Since its founding in 2008 in Switzerland, the brand Horacio has pursued a clear goal: exceptional smoking pleasure for discerning aficionados. The founders Christophe Leroy, Fabien Gil, and Sylvain Toaldo are uncompromising in their commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
From Haute Cuisine to Cigar Manufacturing
While Sylvain manages marketing and international distribution from Switzerland, Christophe and Fabien oversee production in Nicaragua. Initially, production was based in Costa Rica, but Horacio has since established its **Tabacalera in Estelí**, the heart of Nicaragua's cigar industry. Just one kilometer east of the central cathedral, exquisite cigars are crafted here.

As passionate chefs, the founders aimed to become the first French aficionados to build a premium cigar brand in Latin America. Together with experienced partners from Cuba, Nicaragua, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic, they continuously refine new blends. Despite initial challenges in Costa Rica, they remained steadfast—the enthusiastic feedback from cigar lovers worldwide motivated them.
The Art of Cigar Rolling at Horacio
The factory combines the rolling techniques of Entubado and Empalmado, ensuring a balanced ratio between strength and draw resistance. The selection of tobacco leaves is always conducted personally on-site, with the founders paying close attention to the optimal fermentation level, aromatic depth, and burn characteristics of the leaves.
To meet the high expectations that aficionados worldwide place in the brand, Christophe, Fabien, and Sylvain dedicate themselves to every tobacco selection and blend with the utmost care. For them, quality is not an option—it is a promise.

The tobacco used primarily comes from Nicaragua, complemented by leaves from Costa Rica and Ecuador. The result is cigars with complex, multi-layered flavors. Peppery and leathery notes dominate the opening, while nuances of coffee, wood, nuts, and honey develop throughout the smoking experience.
Horacio combines the expertise of three Frenchmen with Latin America's rich tobacco tradition, offering cigars appreciated worldwide. A true masterpiece, Messieurs!
