According to its own account, La Aurora is the oldest cigar manufacturer in the Dominican Republic. Since 1903, handcrafted cigars have been produced in the heart of Santiago de los Caballeros—still under the direction of the founding family León Jimenes, now in its fifth generation. Many immigrants from Cuba also work in the traditional factory—both in tobacco harvesting and in the refined art of cigar crafting.

Principes and Imperiales – Reliable Quality for Aficionados
The Principes Claro are mild longfillers that set a new benchmark for value in the premium segment. The Maduro version impresses with a darker, longer fermented wrapper leaf, delivering more intense flavors. In fall 2022, the line was expanded with a bold Nicaragua cigar.
The Imperiales series is only slightly more expensive, but offers more complex aromas thanks to longer-aged tobaccos. While the Classico delights with mild spice, the Maduro impresses with deep, rich flavor.
Craftsmanship in a Unique Format
The exquisite Preferidos 1903 are a tribute to the year La Aurora was founded. The tobaccos are aged for over three years, followed by an additional six months in oak barrels. Only six experienced torcedores are entrusted to craft this exclusive format—a true masterpiece of cigar culture.
Anniversary Cigars – La Aurora Celebrates in Style
To mark its 100th anniversary, La Aurora released a series that remains the epitome of luxurious sophistication. Even milestone anniversaries like the 107th birthday are celebrated with exquisite compositions. This cigar combines classic values with a contemporary touch.
The 107 Nicaragua marks the beginning of the "Tobaccos of the World" collection, followed by additional series featuring tobaccos from the U.S. and Ecuador. Another highlight is the 115 Anniversary—a prime example of masterful tobacco refinement.

With the powerful 1495 Series, La Aurora pays tribute to the year Hispaniola was discovered by Columbus. The historical connection to the founding city of Santiago de los Caballeros lends this line a deep cultural resonance.
Several La Aurora lines are named after years that mark the first use of specific tobacco types. Examples include the Cameroon 1903 with Cameroon seed grown in Ecuador, the Corojo 1962, and the Connecticut 1987. By contrast, the Maduro 1985 surprises with a sweet-spicy Arapiraca wrapper from Brazil.
