Importer Arnold André has proven with Buenavista – and above all with the exclusive Carlos André – that he is more than capable of blending outstanding cigars himself. Montosa adds yet another brand to the company’s own portfolio.
Montosa Cigars: From Arnold André’s Own Tabacalera
Arnold André’s home base is and remains the German cigar town of Bünde. But since the 2010s, the company from East Westphalia has also been running its own tabacalera in the Dominican Republic. It’s located in the “Cigar Capital of the World”, as Santiago de los Caballeros in the north of Hispaniola is affectionately known. In the heart of the fertile Cibao Valley, where tobacco and sugarcane thrive, many cigar manufacturers have set up shop. Arnold André La Dominicana is one of the more recent ones.

Arnold André’s investment in a local tabacalera brings the traditional company two major advantages. First, it makes production more independent. In a time when supply chain security has become a pressing issue, Arnold André now has much greater control over production. Second, the factory also serves as a laboratory. Right in the producing country, the company can test its own ideas, pursue visions, and develop new products.
Montosa Is Already the Third Cigar Brand
Before Montosa, we already had the pleasure of enjoying the exciting Buenavista Cigars and the highly refined Carlos André. Since 2019, the Montosa Claro has been expanding the portfolio of these seasoned connoisseurs.

It took the master blenders a full three years to achieve results they were fully satisfied with: mild, easily accessible cigars that still offer deep and complex flavors.
Cigars
A year later, Maduro joined the Claro line. “Bold, masterful, Maduro!” – that’s how Arnold André promotes it, signaling a new direction: distinctly spicier and more intense – yet thanks to its Mexican Sumatra wrapper, Montosa Maduro still remains smooth and balanced.
Cigarillos
Arnold André has long been an expert not only in longfillers but also in cigarillos – as Clubmaster has proven for over half a century. This exceptional expertise is also evident in Montosa shortfillers. “The pleasure cigarillos from the heart of the Dominican Republic!” is the slogan – and it certainly delivers on that promise.
Montosa Signature Rum – For a Perfect Pairing
Two excellent cigar lines and top-notch cigarillos on top of that – a tasting session might leave you a little parched. But Arnold André has thought of that too, offering two types of rum, as is typical for Montosa: one in Claro and one in Maduro. We can highly recommend both – perfect for pairing, but just as enjoyable on their own!
