Caminetto Handmade Pipes

The history of the Italian pipe brand Caminetto is closely connected with the long-standing pipe-making tradition around Cantù. As with many renowned Italian manufacturers, familiar names appear here as well—figures who have shaped the development of high-quality tobacco accessories for decades.

The origins of Caminetto lead to Giuseppe Ascorti and Luigi Radice. Both worked in the 1960s in the legendary workshop of Castello. Together with Gianni Davoli, they eventually took the step into independence. Their handmade pipes quickly gained recognition and became sought-after pieces for connoisseurs of premium tobacco accessories in both the USA and Europe. After a long period of personal and business disagreements, the collaboration came to an end in 1986.

Many years later, the brand received a new perspective: Tommaso Ascorti, grandson of the co-founder, reintroduced Caminetto to the world of exclusive pipe manufacturers in 2013, continuing his family’s tradition of craftsmanship.

Caminetto pipes today stand for precise craftsmanship, carefully selected briar wood, and workmanship of the highest standard. Special attention is given to optimal smoking performance, ensuring that every pipe offers a balanced and enjoyable smoking experience. A characteristic detail is the so-called “Baffo”, the stylized moustache of the founder, which adorns many models as a distinctive trademark.

In terms of design, the models are inspired by classic pipe shapes that are reinterpreted with the creative freedom typical of Italian craftsmanship. This combination of tradition and individual expression gives each pipe its own character. Although Caminetto is positioned in the premium segment, enthusiasts of high-quality tobacco accessories appreciate the excellent balance of craftsmanship, material selection, and smoking comfort.

Every Caminetto pipe is created as a handcrafted unique piece. As a result, each example has its own grain, its individual shape, and a distinctive personality—valued by aficionados who appreciate authentic Italian pipe craftsmanship.
