Centaur Cigars: Heroic and Inspired by Myths
The Centaur brand draws deeply from the rich treasury of Greek mythology. Tobias Forst, the creative mind behind the brand, is an avid connoisseur of ancient heroic tales. This passion is clearly reflected in the brand name and the design of its various formats.
The centaurs, hybrid creatures with the body of a horse and the torso of a human, are central figures in Greek mythology. Typically depicted with a human upper body and a horse's lower body, these fascinating mythical beings are not exactly known for their charm. Instead, they are renowned for their uncontrollable nature, love of excess, and wild lifestyle.
The problematic nature of the centaurs may be linked to their ancestry. Their origins trace back to the Lapith king Ixion, a flamboyant yet morally questionable figure. Ixion was notorious for his transgressions: he murdered his future father-in-law and even harassed Hera, the wife of Zeus, the king of the gods—a behavior that earned him many enemies.
Cigars Inspired by Greek Heroes
One exceptional centaur is Cheiron. Unlike his kin, he was not descended from Ixion but from the god Kronos. Kronos, the father of Zeus and other major gods such as Poseidon and Hades, passed on his wisdom and strength of character to Cheiron. Cheiron became a mentor and teacher to some of the greatest heroes of Greek mythology, including Achilles and Odysseus.
Legendary Cigars: The Centaur Hero Series
This outstanding figure of mythology is honored by Centaur Cigars with a dedicated Toro. Other vitolas in the series bear the names of legendary figures, with their blends reflecting the distinctive traits of the respective heroes. These cigars offer a unique way to immerse oneself in the world of ancient myths—whether through reading or simply by enjoying a masterfully crafted cigar.
The cigars are produced in the Tabacalera of Henrik Kelner Jr. in Santiago de los Caballeros. Henrik Kelner Jr., son of a legend within the Davidoff family, has made a name for himself with his work for renowned brands such as Casdagli, Principle Cigars, and his own brand, Smoking Jacket.
