CLE Cigars: An Exciting Success Story
The name CLE holds no mystery – it stands for the initials of the company’s founder, Christian Luiz Eiroa. In the world of tobacco, Eiroa is already a well-known figure. Together with his father Julio, he transformed the brand Camacho from an emerging label into a globally renowned cigar brand.
The tremendous success of this brand eventually culminated in its sale to the prestigious Oettinger Davidoff Group. Much speculation surrounds the exact sale amount, but rumors suggest that the Eiroa family received a substantial sum. While no official confirmations exist, the amount would have been enough for many to retire.
But not for Christian. After the sale, he remained loyal to the company and took on a role within the Swiss corporation. At Davidoff, he assumed representative duties before returning to his roots—cigar manufacturing—with CLE.
An Impressive Comeback: CLE by Christian L. Eiroa
Following the sale of the family-owned factory along with Camacho, the family established a new Tabacalera named El Aladino in Danlí.
The factory's name originates from a historic cinema once owned by the family. CLE is the first project that Christian Eiroa has realized entirely under his own direction. Over time, another brand, Eiroa, has been added. Since the name Eiroa stands for the highest quality, it’s no surprise that third-party brands like Asylum are also produced in this factory.

The CLE range has grown to an impressive variety. The Corojo line impresses with the same Corojo wrapper that previously made Camacho cigars a worldwide success. With the Connecticut, Christian ventures into new territory—this is his first non-exclusively Honduran puro.
This spirit of experimentation is also evident in the Prieto and Chele series. Both use the finest tobaccos from Nicaragua and are hand-rolled there. The name "Prieto" refers to the dark Connecticut Broadleaf from the USA, while "Chele" means "light" in Spanish, representing a milder smoking experience.
